Personal Emergency Kits
Most areas of North America experience natural disasters at one time
or another. Ice-storms, flash floods, severe blizzards, tornados, earthquakes
and tsunamis, while not common may occur at any time. If a disaster
occurs having the correct survival supplies and training may mean the
difference between life and death. A simple pack filled with all the
necessary supplies will enable you to survive more comfortably. Most
civic disaster plans call for a period of approximatly 72 hours of personal
self reliance. There may be a period where trained professionals are
simply too overwhelmed to be able to offer you and your loved ones immediate
assistance.
Special attention must be used when there is small children, pets and
seniors in the household. Personal items such as a family photo or favorite
toys may bring you comfort in a disaster situation.
